GRANTS AND AWARDS
Rosenströmska culture prize, May 2014
Ofeo Image Award 2014 by The International Lesbian and Gay Culture Network,
“For outstanding art and graphic LGBT work to Elfrida Bergman & Sara
Lindquist for Queering Sápmi. Provocative, sometimes tragic and disturbing,
sometimes humorous and always very beautiful images and words of Sami LGBT
people of the far north of Europe.
For combining the rainbow experiences, history and energy of the Sami of Sweden,
Norway, Finland and Russia – men and women, young and old, homosexuals and
bisexuals, queer and transgender and all others desiring to live in harmony and
understanding.
For making the often-ignored and much discriminated Sami more established not
only in the communities where they live but also on the global rainbow barricades
— helping gain the pride and dignity so well deserved.
For confirming that when the rainbow is stretched over geographic, ethnical,
cultural, linguistic and psychological borders, the colors do not fade but become
more brilliant and more visible.”
Umeå creators prize 2013 in the categories Creator of the Year and Text of the Year.
RFSL Gothenburg Allan Hellman-prize 2013: The democracy project visualises the
minority within the minority and that the individual is complex and a whole
human being. Through queer and sami life stories Queering Sápmi enhances the
living space for all of us.
